Superintendent's Message

Dear Friends and Family of the Buckeye Local School District,

As the leaves begin to fall and summer slowly gives way to autumn, we eagerly prepare for a new school year.  A sense of belonging, a feeling that everyone has a role to play in the success of our district has developed. We as a staff, will strive to help our most precious asset, your children, engage in lifelong learning, acquire the skills necessary to become effective members of society, and to excel on state achievement tests.

Our District will face many changes in the new year. Students will attend new schools, teachers will teach in different buildings and staff members will be challenged like never before. We view these changes as a challenge to successfully overcome. We will not shy away from our duty and responsibility to our students, district and community.

As a new school year begins our students will be challenged to work to their fullest potential so they may develop skills to become successful later in life. They will be aided in this challenge by new staff members. These staff members will use the latest educational tools available to help your child succeed.

Our District has become fully emerged in the Ohio Improvement Process. A process that encourages collaboration among teachers, administrators, students and community members. The use of proven research based strategies(i.e. Study Island, Marzano High Yields Strategies) coupled with short cycle assessments and bench marking test will provide a roadmap to improve student achievement.

State achievement scores will remain a high priority in the upcoming year. Rankings are determined by a rubric developed by the Ohio Department of Education. Our success is due in no small part to the hard work of our students and the dedicated staff members that work with each of them every day. Continued success would not be possible without the help and support of parents, family and community members. Your continued involvement will help our district grow in the future. I encourage you to please contact an area building principal in your town so he or she may utilize your talents to help the children of the district have a successful and rewarding school year.

I would like to wish each of you good luck in the upcoming year. Should you have any questions, please call. I can be reached at 769-7395.

Thank you,
